Critique: All too reminiscent of Agatha Christie's "Ten little Indians", it's pretty much a no lose formula, however, the transformed werewolf is a pretty bitter disappointment, a German shepherd with a fur coat on. Also, we don't like movies about which you can say, "reminiscent of Ten Little Indians", since it appears to be the only novel other film reviewers have ever read and they see it in every horror movie. Still, this film carries what would be dead spots well, if it had any lively spots. A good werewolf would have gone a long way toward making this a watchable movie. The transformation scene at the end is the weakest yet. Still, the end features some nice surprises. First African millionaire werewolf hunter in movie history.
Plot Summary: "One of these eight people will turn into a werewolf. Who is the werewolf?" So it begins, and after all the clues have been shown, the viewer has an opportunity to guess which guest is the werewolf during a "Werewolf break". A helicopter arrives at a secluded island where a man dressed in black is running through the woods, followed on closed- circuit tv cameras while the helicopter closes in and he is tracked from a command center. Soon an army of goons in trucks surround him. The number one man finds him, but lets him go only to be subsequently captured by 2 and 3, who are ordered to "intercept and kill!". The target leaves the woods and approaches a garden party where he is gunned down - by blanks. This was only a test. The millionaire Tom wants to be safe "One is either the hunter or the hunted." He explains to the security advisor that he is out to hunt the biggest game of all. He has invited a group of wealthy suspects (a British diplomat, an artist, a concert pianist and his wife convicted of cannibalism) all under suspicion of being a werewolf. In addition, an expert on the Lupe Garoux. One of them is a werewolf, he announces. He has dreamt of hunting and facing what no man has ever trapped before, and admits he would even kill his lover should she turn out to be the werewolf. Before the night is over, he concludes, the results will be in - the full moon rises tonight. Hormones, it is explained, released by the lymph nodes cause the hair and itching skin secondary symptoms include a hunger for human flesh. If a werewolf were to touch silver, minute particles would be absorbed by the skin mix with the lymphatic hormones and make a deadly poison, explains the expert. The millionaire grows Wolfbane in his greenhouse where that night someone throws an axe at him and then tries to kill him with a pitchfork. Still, he returns with the fresh Wolfbane but inexplicably neglects to carry out the silver test. While the millionaire takes a nap, the surveillance chief monitors the situation. Suddenly a large four-legged 159 pound "something" is picked up by the security system. The hunter gets one shot but misses, and the target heads straight for the house where it takes out the command center. The hunter is now without all of his expensive advantages, but luckily the rest of the night is quiet. The next day the millionaire is stalked by a furry man with a bow and arrow. The millionaire then throws the rotor from each car on the island into the lake as a precaution. Just two more nights of serious moonlight. The silver candlestick game finally begins again and it is apparent the millionaire is losing his mind. During the second night, the millionaire goes up in the helicopter to hunt the werewolf only to lose his dog, copter, and pilot in the battle with the werewolf. Back at the house the millionaire discovers a ransacked room and the dead body of Arthur Bennington in the blood-spattered room. Only one more night of full moon, "I warn you, tonight, the beast must die." Paul runs. Is he scared or is he the werewolf. During a "Werewolf Break" the viewer is invited to help solve the mystery. You have 30 seconds. Is it Jan, Paul Foote, Davina, Dr. Lundgren, Caroline? or have you too fallen victim (asleep) to the endless and arduous labor of finding the werewolf while dining with these crashing bores and maniac millionaire.
