Critique: The Nile and its ordered rhythm of life death and rebirth lecture is a nice touch. The story itself is interesting enough and the acting and production values are very good, but something gets lost along the way - the unity of the piece and a great deal of the viewer's patience. Too much intercontinental travel and drawn out portrayal of minute details cause the 102 minutes to kind of shuffle by. The portrayal of the demon proves to be too much of a challenge and as a result falls a bit flat as does the logic of the plot due to too many unanswered questions such as where does Margaret come from in the final scene, where is the mother, what happened to Paul? What's the Queen going to do now? The ending is one of those freeze frame jobs we love so much. If you love mummy movies and have some free time, rent this. The scenes of the digging and the deaths are all very good, but not enough to make this a recommended film. Similar to Sethg Holt's 1971 drag, " ".

On an impromptu dig falling rubble reveals to Matthew and Jane a door marked do not approach the nameless one and contains a prophetic warming of the coming of a northerner who will release the evil upon the world. As Matthew bashes at the door with a sledge hammer each blow rocks his pregnant wife back at the camp and she screams and holds her belly. The door gives way revealing The true door to the tomb. Like the names earlier the face of the princesses Representation is chipped away. Matthew arrives to find his wife catatonic. Coldly preoccupied with his dig Matthew leaves the address at which he can be reached and heads back and opens the tomb to the screams of his hospitalized wife as she gives birth 2 months prematurely the child is stillborn but when Matthew lifts the coffin lid, the baby comes to life and when Matthew touches the mummy, it's fingers move. For some reason Matthew begins to move and tag things before the culture minister arrives, which understandably makes the Egyptians angry. The angry official who tries to stop the pulley is flung and killed by a snapped cable. Matthew Corbeck is obsessed with his Kahra and can't be bothered with his wife and baby Margaret. He does not intend to fly with family back to the states but to stay with his find where he is presented with several pieces from the find as gifts from the Egyptian government, among them a hand-mirror to be presented to his newborn daughter when she is grown. They leave. 18 years later during an eclipse the mummy stirs but a week before his daughter's birthday. While at the zoo a jackal unsettles her. The mummy's weight has decreased by 400 grams and Corbeck wants to take her to England for diagnosis. Dr Kali in charge is angrily against this but he is hit by a car and killed immediately after registering his protest. Margaret wants to go to England to see her father despite the protests of her mother. He abandoned them and married Jane some time ago. Looking in the hand mirror Margaret is bewitched. A joyous reunion in England. Corbeck introduces Margaret to a poster of Queen Kahra who died when she was 18 and was said to be evil, although every reference to her outside the tomb has been erased. Kahra killed her father who had killed her lover and married her. She then killed everyone who had ever spoken to her father. She was thought to have remarkable powers among them reincarnation. She left detailed instructions as to how to bring her back involving a the use of a seven-starred jewel after 31 darkenings of the sun could bring her back. Paul Whittier the assistant meets Margaret and smiles and invites her to the theater. Virus present in every element of the mummy. In the tomb Margaret kisses her father at the same time their guide, Jusef, finds a secret inner shrine and is instantly killed by an ancient icon with a blade on it device. They then get in and Matthew narrowly avoids the device. In the chamber are her jars of internal organs. Jane is upset with Mathews theft of the jars and his obsession. He puts them in a safe in the wall and attaches the key to his wrist with a bracelet. He's scared. How many eclipses since 1800 BC? 31. His astronomer also checks the position of Ursa major which coincidentally is now in the same position now as it was then. Matthew calls Jane and orders her to open the safe and smash the jars. When she does a storm begins and she is induced too fall out the window to her death. The night of her funeral Matthew is dragged around the house by his key bracelet and Margaret is transformed briefly into a panting grinning demon. While applying makeup the next day she sees the side of her face scratched away like the portrayals of Kahra. Paul is concerned for both of them. At the psychologists she is possessed and kills him. Matthew does the ritual and Margaret instantly shows up and Paul breaks in.until he comes to a terrifying realization as to the nature of the reincarnation.
