Critique: The howling three, like 2 and those that follow, is not a sequel but an unrelated story on a similar theme: the day to day struggle of werewolves to escape genocide. It is also different from the Howling II in that it doesn't stink. On the contrary, part III can be very engaging and great fun at times. The low on gore and high on characterization approach works for this decidedly pro werewolf portrayal of things as we actually fear for the werewolves and their boosters and cheer when their detractors get it. The story tends to meander at times, but this is all part of following the modern werewolf experience. Watch for the cameo at the end by Australian icon/export Dame Edna (Barry Humphriesv). As always, the werewolves could use a little work but the ones function well for their given dramatic situations. They're funny when they should be and can be taken seriously otherwise. Plot Summary: Cape York Australia 1905. The grandfather of a Beckmeier guy finds Professor Harry Beckmeyerevidence of the existence of werewolves. Leovich Siberia today, reports surface of several deaths and the search for the werewolf responsible. Australian scientist is convinced that Werewolves exist at least in these two places. Jeboa Jeboa, the daughter of a tribe of werewolves in southern Australia has run away from the daily abuse of her werewolf/stepfather to the big city where she is hired to play a small role in a horror film entitled "Shape-Shifters". She is a werewolf. She explains to her boyfriend that it isn't the moon that causes the change and soon begins to change because of a strobe light at a cast party. She has to have sex there on the spot but the pressure is too much for her boyfriend and he can't. He chases her through the city as she transforms. Meanwhile, members of her pack disguised as nuns have come to bring her home and are invited in to the cast costume party in their great werewolf costumes where they proceed to attack the guests. Jeboa has collapsed in the street and is taken to the hospital. The doctors agree that with her hormonal activity and internal functions at five times the normal rate, she should be dead. She has a pouch and she's pregnant. Beckmeier only wonders how many more of them are out there. The nuns sack the intensive care unit and take her by bus back home. The police interview Donnie while army intelligence listens in.. She's from a town called Flow. Meanwhile the Russian Ballerina doesn't think she can dance tonight. Her boyfriend does an incredibly fast line drawing of the main werewolf and she thinks he's beautiful. Coincidentally, the werewolf researcher and his colleague have invitations to the ballet practice where they witness the transformation and murder of a male dancer. She is finally subdued and strapped in a hospital bed where her boyfriend transforms and aids in her escape. He is shot. These are Marsupial Werewolves, this the Australian connection. The researchers arrive in Flow, to find a nearly abandoned town. The few old timers there are not very friendly. Jeboa gives birth to a tiny werewolf which then heads for her pouch as do other baby Marsupials. These guys also bear the stripes of the Tasmanian wolf, a marsupial canine. The Ballerina Olga comes and makes out with the king of the werewolves. Jeboa finds Donnie camping in the woods and shows him their puppy (a male) and as he accepts this and declares his very unconditional love for her they run away. Bach at Flow, the army is busy sedating the pack of werewolves. Under Hypnosis the ballerina Olga says she is a Lycanthrope part human and part wolf and assists this has always been the case. Parallel development of two human species. The king Phylo explains that his mother read in the stars that a woman from the northern tribe of their species and bring new blood to their clan. In 1888 the secret werewolf genocide began under direct order of Queen Victoria and President Harrison with the sanction of the papacy, which believes they are a satanic manifestation. Around 1910 all three parties were satisfied that the threat was gone. Beckmeier is alone in his conviction they should be studied. Olga says Phylo's group are the only marsupials. There are other werewolf groups in Africa China and maybe California. The marsupial has a chance even when the mother is hunted down and shot. The Amiga team, an Australian elite force is sent after Beckmeier who is on the lamb with Phylo and Olga. The Phantom warns Andy is angry and plans to kill many people. Jeboa and Donnie have to head for the high country fast to avoid the trackers. She explains to Donnie about the Spirit, the phantom, a man who loved a wolf had children and created their race. They say when he died, he became a wolf and visits them in their dreams. Sometimes the phantom is on the werewolf side, sometimes he isn't. Despite the warnings of the guide, who goes home, the hunters push on after the werewolves to be wiped out by the phantom in Kindy. Phylo is transformed into the bid one but bazookaed by an armyman. Prof. Sharp now also calls for an end to the hunt.as Beckmeier and Olga fall in love. Jeboa and Donnie decide after several years to move back to the city with their little boy. Beckmeier and Olga and their little girl remain in the outback. The tiny future of Australio-Russo-American Werewolfdom appears to have some chance.
