Is this the only John Carpenter film that sucks? John Carpenter classic Halloween music. However, the film doesn't make it. Unfortunately, the attempts to rationalize the occult events with endless and questionable scientific rationales begin to weigh on the viewer. The green jet spray that zombizes our researchers gets tired with time and the prince himself is a boring vat of green fluid. One has to like the actors, the acting, and the director, but not the movie, which suffers from two simple problems: it doesn't move fast enough and the embodiment of the evil never becomes something we can be afraid of, to this the bumbling collection of alchemists in a cellar is boring. So, it's the end of the world and noone cares. Although this may serve as an eloquent allegory for the plight of the modern world, we still don't care about that either. Not very convincing that the son of Satan would care a whole lot what he looked like after 7 million years, much less freak out and cry. Donald Pleasence is, as ever, brilliant. But the hour-long showdown is too drawn out and despite the objectively dreadful situations that arise, the viewer loses faith and compassion early on. Catherine died so that we may live.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Plot Summary: A priest of the "Brotherhood of Sleep" suddenly dies leaving behing a diary, a box and a key. His replacement is horrified to discover that the sleeper is awakening and requests the help of a physicist. With the arrival of an old Chinese professor the ants in the ground go nuts. The nature of time is his subject say goodbye to classical reality. The priest gets the Chineses philosopher to help. Oh the ants are everywhere. He shows the Professor Birack the cellar where the priest the guardian of the brotherhood of sleep visited every day. The students are a bunch of philosopher/physicists the philosopher Brian (Parker) and the Physicist Catherine are getting romantic. Professor Birack invites his best students on a field trip to the underground home of the sleeper. The priest (Donald Pleasance) and the ch ph are at odds over how to convince the world of the facts. When the students arrive at the church alice cooper and an army of zombie-like street people who were drawn there silently greet them and keep watch. A veritable dream team of graduate students has been assembled at the church as the work proceeds the team can feel His strength grow, the maggots worms and ants increase their activity. A puzzle presents itself: Why does their translation show differential equations when they hadn't been invented 2000 years ago. They show that the cylinder in which the force is contained can only be opened from the inside. Christ, of extra terrestrial ancestry of a human like race, comes to warn us. Christ's disciples subsequently hid the secret to wait until science could prove that Christ was right. They sold the idea that evil was simply a spiritual matter. Its a thing. As the thing shows its psychokinetic powers, it becomes aparent that the true absolute power rests with the mirror image of the christ and he brings darkness not light. The church lied. The green spitting disciple of the green goo picks off dream team members one by one. Tacheon signals beamed back through time to be received as video impulses whoa! With that some2one say some point in time has finally showed up to tell the truth and its time the humans stand up and show the power what theyre made of Just as we always suspected, the bugs, worms and maggots are on the evil alien team. The son controls simple organisms. Green shit squirts out at into radiologist Susan and she transforms from researcher to researcher-killer. The head nerd Frank has heard enough of the devil story, and leaves but is first attacked by bugs, then killed by a street person as Susan watches. One by one, members of the team have the same dream of the coming of evil. Susan injects the classicist Lisa with the green slime. Lisa types maniacally, "I live!" and knocks Calder to the ground where Susan spits slime into his mouth. The surviving scientists decide that the dream is a warning from the future as they suffer a brownout. Buggy Frank tells them to pray for death before he falls apart and Calder jams a stake into his throat. Birack and Leahy attempt to break out of the church but the door os barricaded from the outside When Walter sees the entire mass gof green slime enter the sleeping Kelly he is surrounded by Susan and Lisa. Lisa spits the green stuff into Dr. Leahy's mouth As the monster team gathers around Kelly as Birack Lomax, Catherine and Brian barricade themselves in one room, the Priest in another, and unfortunate Walther in the room beside the possessed team. Kelly mutates into the prince of darkness while the scientists ayttempt to bust through the wall to the screaming Walter. Brian's attempt to leave through the window is thwarted by the homeless possessed. When the Prince is finished evolving, his little team attacks Walter. Mullins breaks into the scientists and lomax is squirted. As the teams do battle, Walter is finally pulled through the wall. Birack and Walter throw Lisa and Susan out the window. While Kelly attempts to retrieve her father, the king of darkness, through the mirror it is up to the priest with only an axe and Catherine to showdown with the forces of darkness.</B></div> <div>  </div> </td> </tr></table></body>
