Critique: Although this movie has some aspects of a slasher-"Meatballs", it's watchable because of its very busy pace and because Angela does a good job with her otherworldly, off-putting gaze. It evokes memories of camp pettiness that many of us can share with fond loathing. It is not, however, a work of art.
Plot Summary: Camp Arrowak is for sale. Open with an idyllic scene of two kids with their father on a sail boat. Meanwhile some kids are on their motor boat. The sailboat has capsized meanwhile. The kids in the motorboat aren't paying attention. Eight years later, Richard and Angela are headed out to camp. Mother appears to be right out of her mind. The ditsy mother is a slight embarrassment. Some bad acting there for your viewing pleasure. Richard is the cousin, Angela is the survivor of the incident. There were no physicals, the MD mother simply handed them out. The withdrawn Angela hasn't been eating, and hasn't made a peep since she arrived. It is her counselor's opinion that they're starting to spoil the little brat already. A counselor brings Angela into the pederastic food preparer for a special treat. Ricky saves Angela from molestation. The pederast gets his comeupance as he gets a vat of boiling oil splashed over him. The question is, who is the culprit? The owner convinces the others that this incident is best hushed up. Ricky and the boys win big at softball eliciting a war with the other bunk. That night, during some skinny-dipping, one of the boys is drowned. It appears problems are cropping up at camp Arrowak. One of the boys has taken a shine toward Angela. She's talking! Camp's been a good experience for her. He gives her a good night kiss, making the buxom Judy, a regular Angela tormentor, jealous. Billy heaves a water balloon at Angela, and is soon beed? till he bleeds. But camp life continues as Paul finally gets Angela out on the beach for some petting. This brings up a memory of an incident in which her father and another man were making love as she and her brother watched. Mel becomes a suspect with his cover-up of the disappearance of so many boys. Mel fingers Ricky as the culprit, pointing out that he continually runs to her rescue while every problem she has is accompanied by a murder and an appearance by Ricky. The climax approaches with a slew of rather justified killings. Angela invites her boyfriend to the lake where the killer is exposed in a horrifying climax.
