Critique: The film's highlight is the mediocre emoting and grunting of fitness guru and star of the sitcom "Big Brother Jake" Jake Steinfeld, who shines by default. His lackliustre foils would have benefitted by a faster more dramatic demise. The oldest son Mistake is indeed this in every sense of the word. His initial appearance on the screen brandishing his tinny guitar had us begging the Jones was a fast working excessive compulsive psychotic killer who would make short work of this party and move on to less irritating targets. Indeed, not one guest at Bradley's retreat deserves to live as long as they do. Peas! Peas! Cheap gore effects, poor acting, awful characters who undergo no development before their remarkably unceremonious slaughter. The momentum wrought by a few truly arbitrary murders at the outset and the anticipation of a gory end to these objectionable characters peters out about midway through. The possible tension of the final showdown is lost in the comforting babble of the bland and stupid survivors. The music, particularly the incessant "doing" bell certainly doesn't help. The assumption by the police as they arrive on the scene that there are probably bodies strewn all over the place seems like an odd one based on neither reports nor evidence. Some of the blame goes to Loyola Marymount Umniversity Communications Arts Department Internship Program. Dedicated to the memory of Thomas Bush.
