Plot Summary: A witch is nailed to a cross and her eyes are put out by a hot poker. She tells her husband Giddeon that she will live on in her child. This was the first witch execution in forty years. Gideon builds a mausoleum on the site of her execution. Mr. Chapman arrives to see Giddeon. There's still a portrait of Morella above the mantle piece. Coel Devereau is daughter Lenora's surly governess. Gideon is now blind. Gideon and Dr. Gault play chess in spite of Gideon's blindness. Lenore finds Gideon's diary on her bed. It recounts a visit to NOrthampton where he meets Morella. Morella became fascinated with mystic writings on life after death. Morella is sick--almost dying in child birth. As a part of the ritual to grant her immortality, she kills a serving girl. She bathed in virgin blood. She had almost sacrificed her child. We saw the result when she was stopped. A lesbian governess & housekeeper. In the tome of Morella, the governess does some incantation, bidding Morella to rise - a fresh young body awaits - the autumnal equinox is here. The skeleton's eyes grows red. Lenora gets up form her bed when she thinks she hears the governess calling her. Outside an electrical storm brews. Morella's picture draws. Father stops her, and then she wakes form walking in her sleep. He denies leaving his diary in her bed. When Lenora throws down the papers, the governess gathers them up. Deborah tells the young lawyer chapman to come by where she ins teaching Lenora. She then bid them to take a walk. Lenora wants to travel-looks like they hit if off. Kissing in front of mother's tomb. They set up a date for tomorrow by the lake. Lenora's drawn to Morella's tomb. She opens the door to the mausoleum and descends. There she sees the governess. Leonora is then possessed by Morella, Lenora's still there, fighting back. She can't fight her off too long, so she must return to her remains. A serving girl heads off through the woods. Something calls to her form Morella's tomb. She enters and Devreau cuts her throat, letting the blood flow into a basin. The blood is poured onto Morella's corpse. The body beings to live only at a early uncle Frank stage. The young lawyer is warned by Dr Walt about the unhealthiness of the house. Lenora (terrible actress) says she feels like something else is acting for her, waiting for her to let go. The are caught in the rain and go to a cottage. Miles comes by to ask about Ilsa & he searches the grounds. The butler seems to be suspicious of Devreau. Diab the lesbian lover followed Devreau, and saw her with Ilsa. Lenora comes by possessed and taunts Giddeon. She looks in the mirror and gets sucked into a middle world. In the morro world she sees a cheap Morella skulled thing calling her on. She follows and sees the skull-faced thug ins bed. But it was all a dream--but the morro's broken. Miles chases what he thinks is Ilsa into the Mausoleum. The semi-flesh covered Morella sucks the life from him. One more feeling. One more feeding and she'll be resurrected. Diane shows up at the pool. Devreau backs into the shadows and returns with a knife. She slays Diane. Gideon tells the lawyer about the possession and of the "missing" housekeepers. On the way to the village, he finds Ilsa's corpse. Doc Gault says Ilse's corpse in cut the way those were by Morella. Now Guy believes and they return to the manor. Lenora is called again to the mausoleum (electric storm starts up). Quince the butler follow her into the mausoleum, but Devreau's there with an axe. Leonora comes to in the mausoleum and out steps Morella- "Lenora, my child, you have grown up rather beautiful" Huh? Guy show up and sees the axed butler. Struggle with Devreau but Gault shoots her. Lenora rejects Morella who now look just like her. Gault burns both he and Morella.
