Critique: The ending is improbably poor.
Occasionally this film is watchable, but is very much in line with a slew of other british efforts: tame, attempting to to be cheeky and camp, but generally falling short. The viewer quickly gets the idea of how these encounters will turn out, and we get a parade of campy executions.
Plot Summary: Not only do they smoke, Dorisa insists Roger smoke with her. Poor Roger, the surgeron general hadn't gotten out the word clearly enough. The firm is teetering on the brink of ruin. The fretting Y calls a woman about a "liquidation". He is directed to a discreet meeting. There's clearance ont he "Rotham" contract. Josey gets the jgword--she's on the Rotham case. Over tea, Y hears women are more unscrupulous then men. It seems an insurance policy on his partner has got Rothman thinking. Meanwhile Michael and Karen just don't know what to do about his wife--perhaps the agency can help.
The cases start to pile up--unhappy marriages for which apparently the only solution is murder. Is alimony the problem? Mrs. Rotham gets a visit. She is concerned about hygiene. The next thing we know, Mrs Rothmanis tumbling down the stairs with a broken neck--hygenic problems forgotten. (Wasn't it the partner who was going to get it?) Josey does seen to be a deadly female.
This seventies flick--what is with Cleopatra and the other dame showing up during an execution to gawk at the camera? It's British. Sir Charles gets a visit from a masseuse from the "agency". Sir Charles had handled his girlfriend rather roughly. It seems Sir Charles is headed for this last bath. Benney bumps into Samantha, and pretty soon there's another of those daliances his wife was complaining about--so undignified. Pretty soon the poison's taken effect. Mrs. Powell gets the call--the police give her the details. Y's partner hopes for the corporate takeover are soon out the window.
