Critique: This one keeps a tidier pace than some. The characters are better defined as well. We actually become a bit interested in what happens to some of these folks.
Jump-out-of-the-screen 3-D stuff works fine on video as well.
Plot Summary: We are shown the last moments of part II. Jason is breaking into the hut. The heroine fools Jason into not dispatching her. After a struggle, with Jason apparently being willed to life by the desiccated corpse of mother. We switched to a harried couple, listening to reports of the 8 people strewn over camp Crystal lake. We see Jason lurking in the shadows. Poor Harold is axed. What did he do wrong? (Sloth?) Chris has come to pick up Vera. The dufey actor is Vera's date. The kids are smoking marijuana. Cops drive by and they pull the "eat the dope" gag. The kids see the slain couple being packed off to the morgue. Chris was at the site of the murders two years before. (Is that a sequence error? The incidents of part one happened five years before) We have a new crazy Ralph prophet of doom to the young campers, brandishing an eye ball. Not two minutes into the arrival at camp crystal lake and the males are suggesting sex. A scream. Shelly pretends he's been axed. No one appreciates the joke. Shelly has a moment of glory as he drives over the motor cycle of some toughs. The toughs, however, follow our hero back to camp crystal lake. To the toughs' detriment. The last tough is presented with a chambre du corp mord. Chris recounts how she once had a run in with Jason, but somehow survived. Chris is continually pestered by her partner, but she eludes his advances. Obviously he wouldn't behave this way if he knew he was in a horror movie. More highjinx from Shelly. He has a hockey mask and speargun, hoping once again to scare Vera for want of any other courting skills. Can anyone rid us of this pest? Soon Jason's got the mask and spear gun. Jason pares down the campers in a workmanlike fashion. Perhaps most impressive is Jason's squeezing a head until the eyeball shoots out at the camera. In the final showdown, will the power the virgin overcome the power of Jason's resentment against teenage counselors who had allowed him out swimming unsupervised?
