Critique: This film contains some pretty steamy lesbian and heterosexual sex scenes. Watching the alien trot around in drag because he gets dressed up that way by the women is diverting. However, the acting and music are pretty cheap. The plot drags along though the munching of woodland fauna until things heat up at the end. Although the munch 'em up ending lives up to the name "Alien Prey", don't expect a gore-drive-in-romp. This is a turgid affair about two lesbians, one of whom seems to be a mere dabbler, and the tensions that arise when a man is introduced into this precarious mix. Apparently the fact that he's an alien vampire is just to spice up the action which does tend to plod. It is disconcerting that from her little cracks, Jo seems to show uncanny acumen, guessing that Anders is an alien from the start. We suppose the English speaking aliens are to be expected in a film of this ilk but that doesn't make it any easier to watch. Depicting Jo as a psychopathic lesbian murderer seemed to be simply by the numbers.
Plot Summary: Jessica and Jo lie about working on a lesbian love affair as the jumpy Jessica begins hearing things in the wood. You know there's trouble when Jessica wants to spend some time with someone else, and Jo says she can never let that happen. They run into "Anderson" who says he's a stranger here. Jo wants to send him on his way but Jessica sees him as just the means of getting out of the suffocating relationship that she was looking for. "It's a long time since we had a visitor" she murmurs to him. The amnistic "Anderson" asks whether many people will come here, saying he's from London only after Jessica mentions that many people come from there. Anderson eyes the parrot and we get a cheap flash of some pointed teeth. Having no desire for competition for Jessica's favors, Jo asks pointedly where he'll be going when he leaves. It is agreed that "Anders Anderson" is a bit odd, and it's bruited about that perhaps he's escaped from an institution. Now Jo strangely insists that he stay and no phone calls be made. Anders wanders to the scene of an earlier luncheon at the Volkswagen just when some bobbies are there looking it over. The matter is decided by pointy teeth. The women are vegetarians, and Jo has somehow guessed that Anders won't find the repast appetizing. Judging by the spit take she guessed correctly. Although Jessica finds bloody clothes in his things, the blood soaked clothes she finds in Jo's things as well adds a further note of discomfort to the situation. She begins to ask Jo about whatever happened to Simon. Jessica begins to tell the ghoulish Anders about how scared she is. Jessica warns the carnivorous Anders to keep the door locked against her murderous lover. She then goes to bed with said murderess and all her fears are soon forgotten. Anders gets to witness Jessica come to climax. This prompts the alien to report (in English) to compatriots on a ship that the humans are an aggressive life form. Jo wakes in the morning to find her prize fowl decimated by a fox. She begins setting traps and loading her gun, setting Jessica and Anders to beating the bush while she waits with her shot gun to flush the fox out but no fox shows. The alien is chastised as a poor bush beater. He then goes out and bags the fox himself. Things get popping at the celebration as they dress Anders up in a dress and lip stick, which Anders takes this with equanimity and the champagne seems to go down better than the other food did. Things get a bit tense, however, when Jo is bid dance with Anders. Perhaps it's the drag outfit, but Jo seems to enjoy the dance. The party finally fizzles, however, with the squabbling about who gets the first piece of cake and Anders grimacing over the very idea of eating cake. In the hide and seek game, Anders smells Jessica out. This seems to amuse her but Jo seems a bit put off by his olfactory prowess. Finding the fox devoured doesn't help matters either. When she can't come up with the corpse, Jessica thinks this is just more jealousy on Jo's part and starts cozying up to Anders again. The acting gets a bit overblown here. Anders reports to the ship that the preliminary tests were unsatisfactory and they'd have to search for an alternative supply. Next thing we know Anders is flailing about in the duck pond in three feet of water. The slow-mo allows this to drag out for some minutes without our having any idea what the problem might be. At length this concludes and the trio stumbles onto the shore. Anders has been eying the parrot while the women shriek at each other and things really get out of hand. It becomes clear that Jo is not particularly well adjusted. While Jo's out digging a grave and muttering about Jessica's being a "bitch", Jessica and Anders engage in a pretty rough sexual situation after which the alien reports the mission is successful.
