Critique: Dr. Giggles has a decent pace until the end - where is it going? The revelation of Evan's terrible trauma as a child is certainly shocking and is sufficient to explain his behavior. The giggling, however, and particularly the clever quips become trying. Where does he get the gigantic ouchless band-aid? We understand it's camp but, as always, the most horrifying moments are the ones that makes sense, anchored in and essential to the reality of the characters. Dr. Giggles must have been absent that day. Still, for a slasher, it provides enough. The brief wicked stepmother motif, the soulless teenage boyfriend thief-motiv are all played out according to morality-slasher tradition. Safe sex like in happy hell house the very vague connection between Giggles and Jennifer's mother .
Plot Summary: Our town has a Doctor his name is Rendell,
Stay away from his house, he's a doctor from hell,
He chopped up his patients, every last one,
and cut out their hearts, purely for fun.
For extreme illnesses,
extreme treatments are most fitting. - Hippocrates
We begin with doctor Giggles (IQ in the somewhere in the stratosphere) in the Tarawood State Mental Institution. He escapes, releases the other patients and puts on an exhibition of surgery, chopping Dr. Phillips into pieces after disconnecting his heart expertly. They love it, however the administration would like to catch him. Throats are cut, wrists are cut, and out the door he goes.
At the same time, high school students are celebrating the beginning of Summer vacation. 8:00 Breeder's Hill is the big party. Max and his girlfriend are going. has a heart valve problem Avoid strenuous activity, no coffee no tea and above all no alcohol. Dr. Giggles is breaking into the boarded up home and office of Dr. Evan Rendell opening up his own practice? The fake doctor has a flashback to his childhood at the sight of his father's photo in the office. This town murdered you. It's sick It must be cured. An apple a day takes the Doctor away. High school students enter abandoned house. The story is told: the citizens of Moorehigh surround the house drag the doctor into the street and stone him. The son was never found. Some say he never left the house. We later hear he "offed" seven of his patients, trying to find his wife a new heart, he cut out their hearts alive. The students tap on the walls looking for the secret passages they believe Evan is hiding in. Evan is meanwhile donning his Sigmund Freud outfit "The Doctor is in!" and kills the black male. The others are hanging out at breeder's hill above the carnival. Max wants to drink beer but cant because of her valve, Suddenly the cops come Officer McGruder's raids on the hill are a town tradition, as are nonsense reports of crime by 5714 Tittelty Court Elaine Henderson calls in all the time. The police arrive at Evans, and the veteran is obviously nervous to visit the site of the massacre Jennifer has another problem, her recurring nightmares about how her mother went to the hospital and never came back. When Dr. Giggles learns of Jen's heart problem, he follows her to the carnival. Max tells the cops he thinks it might be Dr Rendell's son. The cops don't want to hear about it. 1957 Magruder finally spills his guts was drunk in Rendell's house watching over the bodies until around midnight he heard giggling and witnessed the horror to which Dr Rendell had submitted Evan in an attempt to save him from the mob. The police and Dr Chamberlain have Jen is now in protective custody at the police station. Wish them luck. The Doctor is about to make a house call and prepare the showdown with Max the young cop who's suspected Evan Rendell all along. A chambre des morts grand tells the cop he's in the right place. Dr. Giggles is in the process of repairing Jennifer's broken heart in his frankenstinian laboratory and he's a tough guy to stop.
