<bR> <div> <B><U>Critique</U></B><B>: This delightful mess owes a huge debt to Evil Dead II and from beyond and is every bit as good in the execution if not as clever in the story dept. Still every second is something new and wondrous. So it doesn't make sense, that certainly doesn't slow it down a bit. The fight scene with the priest is an absolute classic. poison and tranquilizers clearly labeled  hats off to the gore effects guy who was relentless and the creativity of the sight gags is laudable a couple hundred thousand more gallons of blood and it really bloody well would have been overkill.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B><U>Plot Summary</U></B><B>: Skull Island (southwest of Sumaria) 1957 two men run with a captured monkey when they are ambushed by bushmen who insist the monkey be set free or the spirits will punish them. The New Zealand zoo official pulls out a machine gun and he and his courier escape to their jeep where the team awaits until the monkey bites the official through the cage. whereupon his team chants sungaya frantically and dismembers him. The rest of the team sells the monkey to the Wellington, New Zealand Zoo. Roger the fruit dealer stops to see Pequita Maria Sanchez at her father's store where grandmother uses Tarot cards to see if they are destined for each other. "There shall be one romance and it shall last forever" The symbol of the star and the moon shall signal his arrival, the next card reads oppression, but granny breaks off the session. A local nerd, clumsy and unsure knocks over a container of jerky which forms a moon and star pattern on the counter. At home his mother blasts him for the presence of a cockroach and orders him to clean the whole house as she has just been elected president of the ladies welfare league and must hold a reception. Pequita visits him under the premise of making a delivery with her dog and gets a date to go to the zoo the next day. Nerdy Lionel it turns out is the son of the dismembered zoo official. Nerd has a vision at the zoo of his father who drowned trying to save him. Simian raticus the sumarian rat monkey legendary result of little tree monkeys raped by slave-ship rats kills a monkey then bites mother but she crushes its head to a bloody pulp with her heel. Pequita shows up late in the night to return Lionel's jacket and in horror of his disapproving mother, he tells her he can't see her anymore but winds up "romantically entangled" in his bed, while his poor mother is wretching in the bed next door with a throbbing growth in her rat monkey wound. The next day the Matheson's from the Ladies welfare league arrive son glues a torn off section of her face on and she bravely moans through dinner although incoherently until during custard her arm spurts pusy blood into Mr. Mathesons custard and she eats her own ear after it falls into her custard spitting out her pearl earring. After dinner, Pequita rushes in to warn Lionel of dark forces massing against him when they are interrupted by a roar. Lionel's mother has eaten Pequita's dog. Minutes later she dies in the arms of nurse McTavish.  but recovers to tear the nurses head off and tries to kill Lionel joined by the zombie nurse. Lionel manages to throw them both into the cellar and Pequita goes home. Lionel buys sedatives from his fake Latvian German Nazi veterinarian, dresses for battle and heads into his cellar. he gets nurse Mctavish in the left eyeball and mother way up the nose. Lionel is ready to listen to the tarot cards grandmother sees death and gives him a star/moon medallion containing the power of the light to protect him. When his escaped mother is hit by a streetcar, she lands in Pequita's store where Lionel jams the sedatives through her nosebone. This time they bury her but when an absent minded embalmer leaves her filling with embalming fluid, she explodes, yet during the service she climbs out of her coffin and wrestles Lionel until he again jams the needle through her nose. Evil cousin Louis smirks when he overhears that Lionel will be the sole beneficiary. While Lionel attempts to dig up his mother he is set upon by a punk gang whose leader urinates on his mother's grave until she tears his penis off and kills all his friends who instantly join her in pursuit of Lionel. Luckily, the minister comes at that point and fights better than Bruce Lee and massacres the zombie punks brutally while Lionel jams the needle in his mother's nose. Lionel now has all the undead in his kitchen where he feeds them macaroni and cheese with tranquilizers when Uncle Louis pays an unfriendly visit. Lionel manages to get rid of him despite the noise of the minister zombie having sex with nurse zombie which produces an hideous baby zombie within minutes. Lionel tells Pequita it was a mistake just as Roger arrives to knock him out. Lionel takes the baby for a stroll in the carriage covered with barbed wire but draws the attention of others in the park when he is forced to beat it into submission and jam it into a bag. When he returns home Uncle Louis complements him on his impressive "collection of stiffs" before threatening to call the police if he doesn't get the money and the house. Uncle Louis brings hundreds of guests in for a party and insists Lionel bury his friends and cater the dance party. Pequita and Roger walk by the house and Pequita checks in on the loud music where uncle Louis attacks her before she escapes to the cellar where she advises Lionel on how to destroy the monsters and they poison and bury the whole lot in the cellar. Uncle Louis throws Lionel back into the cellar where he notices the poison is labeled animal stimulant just as the zombies begin exploding out of the floor Upstairs, Louis is trying to rape Pequita as the entire party goes on a zombie rampage for the ages.
