Critique: This film features excellent zombies and the zenith of gore technology by master Tom Savini. In fact, the effects really outdo the rest by a long shot. The main weakness lies in the obvious pointlessness of any attempt to rid a world with 12 humans on it of zombies. The viewer really doesn't understand the urgency of the project or the power struggle underground-who cares who's in charge of 12 people under ground after the world ends? Romero puts a hopeful twist on his hopeless zombie stories by suggesting a one race island of enlightened alcoholics at the end, sounds good. They'd never be complaining about race or gossipping about the drinking habits of the others, a vast improvement over the pre-zombie-catastrophe society. The making of this film, which is more intersting than the film itself, can be seen in great detail in fangoria magazines Tom Savini video.

Plot Summary: Dead air from Sarasota to the coast. Civilization has fallen and Zombies rule the land, but for an Army research group and their security force which have survived the fall.

(THE MOVIE SIR?)

The Swat team hears the multituide of zombies and knows fear. They head off to a secluded corner of the globe where they can hope to survive. The survivors dispute how best to overcome the multitude of zombies. It is clear that leaving the helicopter's gas tank other than filled is a mistake. Doc is running a number of experiments on the zombies that don't sit well with the SWAT types.
